The Harveys Lake Rod & Gun Club is located at 18 Middle Lane, Harveys Lake PA 18618. The club was founded by Herman Kerns on February 27, 1947. The purpose of the club is promote firearm safety, respect and responsibility toward firearms and the shooting sports; support firearm collectors, firearm enthusiasts, hunters and shooters; assist fish, game, forestry and conservation authorities; work toward and encourage legislation determined to be in the interests of the club; promote respect, cooperation and friendship between landowners and sportsmen; protect the welfare of sportsmen and conservationists; provide educational and service programs encouraging the betterment of the shooting sports and for those interested in the shooting sports; and to provide educational programs for the benefit of responsible youth in firearm safety as well as respect and responsibility toward firearms and the shooting sports.
The club consists of the following facilities built on 27.5 acres: a club house, 2 storage buildings, a pistol range, a rifle range, a shotgun patterning range and a trap range with trap house. The pistol range has three pistol shooting distances set at 5, 12.5 and 25 yards. The rifle range has five shooting distances set at 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 yards. Both the pistol and rifle ranges have roof covered shooting stations and backer boards down range for hanging paper targets. A separate shotgun patterning range has two shooting distances set at 30 and 40 yards with a bench and target backers in place. The trap range is set up for both standard and handicap shooting distances with voice activated bird release. The club also has a black powder woods walk course that is used during scheduled black powder shoots.
The club conducts the following shoots: monthly handgun shoot, hi power (hunting) rifle shoot & muzzle loader shoot, weekly trap shoots and a yearly memorial trap shoot with all proceeds donated to a local cancer treatment center.
